"If there’s anything that my family taught me, being a first-generation Cuban American, anything worth fighting for is freedom. And to me, that’s what entrepreneurship is about, that’s what Powershift is about. You’re really fighting for independence, to be able to maneuver and navigate the way you want to."
Born Armando Christian Perez and commonly referred to as Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull is a music artist, philanthropist, and businessman. With 10 studio albums released throughout his career, as well as features on many top artists’ songs (like Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, DJ Khaled, Enrique Iglesias, and Usher), four compilation albums, one remix album, one soundtrack album, four mixtapes, 80 singles, and 12 promotional singles, it’s nearly impossible not to be familiar with his vast library of work. Beyond the music industry, Pitbull strives to give back to his community, helping to build the Sports Leadership and Management Charter Middle and High Schools in Miami’s Little Havana, the neighborhood where he grew up. There are now SLAM schools operating in four states, and Pitbull works to make sure that the kids growing up in his hometown have access to more opportunities to succeed off of the streets than he had. He also doesn’t shy away from business deals, opening a line of fragrances for men and women, a TV development company, and forming partnerships with Kodak, Voli Vodka, and Bud Light.
