‘Shark Tank’ star signs on as resident Babson entrepreneur
by Donna Goodison
Babson College students will get an inside look at just what it takes to be a “shark” this fall.
Daymond John, star of the ABC-TV series “Shark Tank” and creator of the FUBU clothing brand, has signed on as an entrepreneur-in-residence at the Wellesley business school.
John visited the campus in April to judge a student Rocket Pitch business competition and spoke about his own experiences as an entrepreneur, and both students and faculty “loved” him, according to Elizabeth Thornton, a Babson lecturer in entrepreneurship.
“He embodied everything we value and teach at Babson, like creating opportunity, loving what you do, learning from mistakes,” Thornton said. “The biggest thing we really liked was he was a really successful entrepreneur who had strong moral values and integrity and is really making a difference in the world.”
