I don’t think many people would argue with me when I say that showing our friends and family that we genuinely love and care for them is not only important but also remarkably rewarding.
Well, the same is true if you want to grow a successful business.
One of the ways that I form connections and foster genuine relationships, is through Ambassador Programs.
It’s no secret that partnering with brand ambassadors to create more visibility for your brand is a great way to reach more people. You may think of ambassadors as those people you see on Instagram promoting their favorite products from a company, but their influence is so much stronger than just a pretty picture.
Here’s why every company can benefit from having an ambassador program:
Content creation: When you choose a social media savvy brand ambassador, not only are you getting promotion from them, you’re likely getting original content. Content creators are often able to view your product or service in a way that you might not be able to due to your close proximity to your business, and they know exactly what kind of content to post to appeal to their community!
Advertising: Yes, technically you are paying for advertising by giving away products or services to your ambassadors, but you’re also building a loyal community. As long as you are connecting with ambassadors who a) understand and influence their community and b) their community mirrors your ideal customer, then what you get back far outweighs any perceived cost.
Audience relationships: You follow someone because you genuinely care about what they have to say, right? That’s exactly why your brand ambassadors followers’ connect with them too. So you know that when your ambassador posts content about your brand, their followers are interested! Think about it like a testimonial. You can brag about yourself all day long but when someone else brags about you, it’s that much more authentic and meaningful.
- Easy tracking: If you provide your ambassadors with affiliate links, you’ll be able to see exactly which ambassadors are driving sales. This makes it easier for you to determine whether or not you want to adjust your ambassador program.
The most essential aspect of any successful ambassador program, though, is ensuring that the ambassadors themselves are also getting something out of it (beyond just discounted or free products). If your company is all about marketing, make sure your ambassadors get to learn about your marketing strategies as they promote your company. You should constantly be educating your ambassadors so that in the end, the value that they get from the program is equal to or hopefully even greater than the value that they provide for you and your company.
