In business, one often finds themselves feeling the effects of decisions that were made years before. The way that you conduct yourself when you’re just starting out, whether you keep your integrity or do anything you can to advance your brand, will greatly determine how far you will go. When I was just getting my feet wet with FUBU, my partners and I were careful not to be perceived as too hungry, too careless or disrespectful.
The business world has a long memory; if we had been careless, some people would still know us that way. Think about how your actions will be perceived now and 10 years from now. Don’t run your business as if its lifecycle is a sprint…think of it as a marathon and then plan accordingly. What decisions are you making today that will affect your brand in the years to come?
