In The Brand Within I say, “The best ideas have all kinds of holes in them, but you don’t know there are holes until you spring a leak”. This means that it doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or the CEO of a Fortune 500 company… an untested plan will take a little reworking before it becomes 100% foolproof. And even then, very few are flawless.
The main difference is that a multi-million dollar entity is going to be able to anticipate the problem, and chances are that they have encountered them before. A young start-up is going to be knocked around a bit more, because they lack the experience gained from significant time earning money. The point is to weather those storms to the point where you gain the experience and know-how to deal with those challenges, by that time you’ll have the inside track and the assets to do more.
