Have you ever asked yourself, what do I really want in life? Why am I here? Why do or don’t I have the things I want? The simple answer to most of those questions will be money. Here is a simple but very real test! Ask yourself the question of “why” 10 to 15 times after your answers. Example:

* What do I want in life? Money

* Why? Because I will be able to buy the things I can’t afford.

* Why can’t I afford them? Because I don’t make enough at work.

* Why don’t I Make enough at work? Because I just started this position.

* Why? Because I was in a relationship and the one I loved didn’t want me to work.

* WHY DID YOU ALLOW THEM TO NOT LET YOU WORK?

ANYWAY! You get it? If you answer with total honesty, you may not like the final answer that will be provided. This answer will be so pure that it will either force you to change, or it will force you to back away and develop another layer to mask what you are really worth. If you do decide to take the most painful route and face your imperfections face to face, then you will quickly realize that all your pain and sorrow stems from these deeply hidden issues. The good thing is that once you know the issue and are willing to face it, you can cure it quickly.

All people with “TRUE POWER” know what author Doris Mortman said, “Until you make peace with who you are, you will never be content with what you have. “Thanks for your support of me on twitter @TheSharkDaymond and on my new show ‘Shark Tank’ on ABC Sunday nights @ 9pm. Please enjoy the week.

Children instinctively ask ‘why’ until they are able to reach the answer they want to hear from their parents. Perhaps we all should hang on to some the innocence of our youth to grow successful.

There are 3 reason why I’m not where I want to be. 1. poor money managment is bad point which I have turned to a consult to get help. 2. Not going to meet the people and not knowing how to apporch the people who are there and being able to learn from them. 3. credit my credit is not that perfect to get what I need, $$$$$.

Extremely well said and thought provoking. I don’t think I have really answered that question but honestly, I never said money. When I was younger yes. But I’ve sat on both sides of the fence… many times. (and I’m a bit older) (not really old!) For me, money will give you the basics, those things that are needs must, and money does indeed give you options.
I don’t think it makes a person happier nor does it buy them friends. However as in the lotto commercials, there’s gotta be a happy dance… even if only a small one, lol!
Contentment comes from being happy with what you have now. And more so who you are. Staying true to myself, my morals and beliefs and to have the courage to follow dreams is important to me. But what do I want in life… I haven’t answered yet… will do so now… well try to. (it’s a very big question)
Thank you, sincerely for posting the article.
    With warm regards,
    Jenny

The reality is that too many people believe that their job is going to make them rich when in reality, that job keeps them J-ust O-ver B-roke. So much talk about the need for more and better education when all education does is teach one how to get a better job. Sadly, most people surround themselves with others who are just like them instead of looking for those who can spur them on to greatness. I’m a firm believer that in order to be a great leader, one has to know what it means to serve others. Also, to be a great leader, one must recognize his/her own weaknesses and staff accordingly. Why hire someone just like you? You will end up frustrating that person because they will never reach the level they desire as long as you occupy it.

This was a really good test because it helped me identify issues that I have already took steps to conquer it felt awkward because the “WHY” are really not answers I looked at mine as lame excuses….

This post reminds people that they hold their own destiny in their own hands. Why am I not where I want to be… because of the choices I’ve made in my life. How can I get where I want to be… step up and make some changes. You decide. And today I decide to be wealthy.

I agree with you on all counts. If one continues to do things the way he/she has always done, then you will continue to get the same results. I am my biggest critic, and as a result, I have been introspective, embraced change where applicable, and made learning and growth in all areas of my life a mission.

This is empowering, and my goals are within reach. Your show by the way has contributed to that learning experience, so a big Thank You to everyone at Shark Tank.

Don’t forget to PRAY and SINCERELY make decency and gratitude a lifestyle!

    Blessings,
    Sonia

So true. I did that self evaluation last week and consulted with an expert in my field and was honest about the role I was NOT playing in getting to the next level. I found that the why all boiled down to my own insecurities and hesitancy to move forward (often referred nicely as “Fear of Success”)! Thanks to some mental reshaping, excellent advice and a solid plan – I’m good now and READY FOR THE WORLD!

I completed this exercise this morning and it is life changing, a total of 17 why’s but I got to the ugly root and now am asking myself, “What are you going to do about it to make a change?” Thanks, Daymond!

The first few sentences of your first paragraph is how the Tommywants brand came about! I was an attorney (not a very good one) and I was very unhappy. I started asking “what purpose do I have on this earth,” “what are the limits of my human potential?” I believe 95% of people never ask these questions! I didn’t want to be the kind of person that sat in an uncomfortable chair over the course of their career, then say, “I wish I’d had a more comfortable chair!” If you want something, you have to persevere and go after it, while confronting the most brutal facts of reality!

What a great exercise, I tried it and came up with a statement that led me to send you this message. Could I please meet with you for 5 minutes to pitch you my software/internet business. It very seriously has the power to change the way a large segment of the world makes buying decisions. I can fly to wherever you are for 5 minutes of your time. Please sir I am very serious about this and I know you wont be disappointed. Kindest Regards, John

Daymond I have been making excuses for a very long time about successes in my life and I vowed to stop after reading your post.Thank you for that light bulb moment. I was a middle child raised on welfare with no father. My ex left me to raise our son alone since he was 2 years old and has never been a part of his life. These are the limits self talk I would think. Im not good enough to be sucessfull I have limited education ect. I have always had dreams of developing a great business something big for my son and I and I believe I have after 14 years. I just want to meet you to show you what I have. I am a software developer/ Entrepreneur. I came very close to success in the early 90′s and was hit with the dot bubble. I believe I have developed the next twitter/facebook please allow me to meet with you. I admire you very much and believe you will be truly impressed with what I have developed. Regards, John

im a very bottom line person. so i agree with pieces of people’s comments that appear before my own. Alot of people want the promise without going through the process. We must ask first understand and know ourselves to EFFECTIVELY achieve what we’re suppose to in life will we live it. If by some chance (which happens alot in music industry) you achieve money(which doesnt constitute as success) before you ask yourself these questions above you will fall. But even when you fall, its not failure its feedback. Nice post Daymond…
