Moving Mountains…

Power Journal, Thought For The Day Add comments

A friend once told me a very inspirational quote:

“The man who moves a mountain does so one pebble at a time.” – Confucian Proverb

I’ve tried to remember this as I’ve grown my brand and my businesses. Anyone that knows me knows that I started on the bottom; my best friends and I made hats in my house in Hollis, Queens. I personally traveled across the US to cities like Philly and Detroit with icons like LL Cool J and RUN D.M.C., and sold my own products piece by piece. Those were my pebbles, and I’m still moving my mountain.

It is often difficult to see the greater significance in the mundane tasks, but it is within these tasks that you will find the ability move your own mountain. What pebbles are you moving today?

I’m trying to get all the different pieces of paperwork finished to start my non-profit, so that my attorney can start the engine to push my mountain.

So funny that you wrote about this today. I have been working on our new website at work. We sell modern furniture and accessories. It has taken months to collect all of the information for this. It has been expecially frustrating trying to collect the information from our furniture suppliers. We have recently added a new addition to the store as well as looking at our marketing and branding. So we have a lot of projects on the go. The current website and new website are my responsibility. I have been feeling very inundated with keeping our website current and getting the new website complete. Today, I just finished the furniture portion of the wesite and got that off to our designer. I still have the Accessories and Outdoor sections to finish but the furniture was a huge “pebble” so to speak. I am so glad it is done. The mountain aka the new website is slowly getting built. This is Urban Mode’s 33rd year in business. We are really looking forward to receiving your books to help us with the marketing and branding of the store. So your journal was certainly apropos.

    Hello Daymond,

This post is inspirational as well as true. I have been trying to succeed with my business Milk and Honey Investments for a little over two years, and it has been a great struggle. Reading this post reminds with time, patience, effort, drive, and passion I will soon experience great opportunities. I can look at it as one pebble at a time to move my mountain. I will end with this the word pebbles is Faith to me. God Bless and thanks for your leadership.

I had to comment since your post was really interesting, but I was wondering if the new case law that will bring Twitter, Facebook, Myspace into the 21 century is going to happen anytime soon. How will these new technologies fit into our current system and how can they be controlled across cyberspace?
