Display of Power – Point of the Week

Power Journal Add comments

(This post was taken from Daymond’s weekly column on www.urbanworldwrieless.com)

This weekend, we spent Easter and Passover with our families and loved ones. We are often so focused on our careers that we forget the value of the ones we love. I’m often surrounded by individuals with fame and fortune, but nobody to share it with.

I’m not immune to this disease either, and have made this tragic mistake in the past as well. We often work so hard to take care of those we love, not realizing that fame and fortune eventually hurts those we were trying to provide for and protect in the first place.

Those with “TRUE POWER” come to learn that “NO SUCCESS IN PUBLIC LIFE CAN COMPENSATE FOR FAILURE IN THE HOME”…Benjamin Israeli. Take this time to value what is really important and everything else will fall into place.

Questions and comments welcomed or catch up with me on twitter @DaymondJohnFubu.

Have a great week.

I want to first start by thanking you for the words of wisdom and thoughts to ponder on a weekly basis. I am a 32 year old career driven, family oriented woman who always seems to find men who need me as oppose to love me. At times I have mistaken their need for love and it has only lead to heartbreak. I have found myself to be an asset to many given I am very business minded. Therefore I often meet men who need me and never love me. So do you not offer a man help with business in order to find love?

    Have a great week!

    Mr John,

I find this to be one of your most common sense, yet “smack in the face” posts yet. We all set lofty goals which include for the most part money, fame, success – but how we define success needs to CHANGE. You probably didn’t notice my outburst on Wednesday (I’m kind of a somewhat big deal in local politics…), but after 20 interview requests, I had it – turned off my phones, logged off Twitter for 2 days and hung out with my FAMILY and nephews. They are more important to me than anything in this world.

I’m in the same boat, although a different kind of celebrity. For instance tonight I am meeting with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Virginia’s Lt Governor, Senator Allen, Sen McCain, Gov Huckabee, House Minority Whip Cantor, etc… Yet I probably have the largest collection of Obama magazines of any “Conservative.” I am so proud of what our country did in electing an African-American President and he has certainly proved his mettle in Europe! He is one of the great orators of the last 2 centuries, I am comfortable to say… As for Michelle, could a woman have more class? Those vultures attacking her for having “arm muscles” can quite frankly go jump in the ocean and swim…our founding fathers anticipated the strife the minorities are going through and I am proud to say, I was born in East St Louis Illinois (Home to Lincoln and Obama)…my father made it out, I made it out. Do we give back? HECK YES. I LOVE MY CITY AND MY STATE. They made me who I am today. Those who won’t move into a neighborhood b/c “blacks” live there are ignorant. Those who stereotype me b/c I go into a club to see my African-American friend rap (Who happens to be completely off the chain – I’d even fly up to NYC for you to hear his CD!) are also guilty – I feel comfortable being the only white guy in a club of 100 black guys…why? People are people my man. We all want the same thing. Man, I wish I could quote some of my boy’s lyrics, they are so apt right now. We want to provide for our families, we of course strive for the finer things in life, but in the end – we want food on the table, people to love and people to love us back.

I was with a woman for 12 years – she was my one and only – mind you I’m 29. This new dating game is a joke b/c everyone in Richmond knows I have a few bucks. I can only imagine what you must go through.

I APPLAUD YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING BACK AS YOU HAVE BEEN ON TWITTER AND ON YOUR WEBSITE – I DON’T SEE MANY OTHERS ACTIVELY ENGAGING US “COMMONERS” :) YOU ARE A GOOD MAN MR.JOHN AND IF ANYONE TELLS YOU DIFFERENTLY, I PROMISE TO ACT REALLY TOUGH then hope your body guards step in…lol. Just keepin it real bro! No glocks or .45s for me.

Half my friends are African Americans – my favorite musicians (even going back to etta james and Nat King Cole aren’t my race) – but we’re all the freakin HUMAN race and until every one of us can get that through our heads – which I BELIEVE WILL HAPPEN – no, not until…When? If perception is reality, how do we change perception? Tell me how and this Conservative Northerner from the Capital City of the South will stand shoulder to shoulder with you. That ain’t gangsta, that’s REAL.

    Peace bro,
    SG
