Display of Power – Point of the Week

Power Journal Add comments

(This post was taken from Daymond’s weekly column on www.urbanwireless.com)

This week, let’s get focused on those people we know that know everything! They never admit they are wrong, never take the initiative to read, take classes, or do anything that will advance them to become more of a well rounded person in a field of work that would be beneficial.

I’ve been in the fashion industry for 20 years to date, and still probably only know 20 percent of the game. I learn everyday and if I don’t, I still seek to learn more! Those with “TRUE POWER” know that: “IT’S WHAT YOU THINK YOU KNOW THAT WILL ALWAYS PREVENT YOU FROM LEARNING.” I will keep learning till I die – or is there any reason to live?

Have a great week. Follow me here or on twitter.com for my everyday movements that will make you rich

Funny…yet true! Education is important whether you are in school or hands-on or being schooled by a mentor. Speaking of mentors, everyone no matter how long they have been in business needs a mentor. Moreover, learning is always important and a part of life even when you learn things the hard way.

You know Daymond…after my comment, I realized that you’ve only learned 1% of the business every year that you have been in business. Are you sure you are correct about your stats because I know you’re smart but don’t let everyone know how smart you are?

A teacher can open a door, but the student must walk through. Life long learning is the only way to keep yourself from becoming like everyone else. Conforming to the archetypical views and vernacular of the masses is not something I long for.
Mr John, you basically applied the Paretto Principle which simply states 80% of X will yield only 20% of Y. 80/20 rule. I consider myself an expert (or SME) on many things, but Daymond would you hire me: Sold a company to a Fortune 500 co at 20, Degree in Marketing and Econ, 9 IT Certifications, Six Sigma Blackbelt in Statistical Analysis, Political Delegate…..take someone with all of that….now without my desire to learn, would they trump me? I doubt it unless they can speak Spanish, French, Korean, German, Japanese, etc… Global business. One also needs to learn to change their lexicon based upon with whom they are speaking. I speak on Twitter differently than I will with Senator McCain tomorrow night. Jack of all trades, master of none – quote for those who can’t or won’t. VERITAS, PAX FRATER!

Is arrogance merely controlled confidence or visa versa? Maybe neither – just a thought to ponder.
