Display of Power – Point of the Week

THOUGHTS…This week, spend time analyzing how you prioritize what you spend most of your time thinking about. Think about the people you know that spend most of their time thinking about getting high, fighting with their boyfriend or girlfriend, going to clubs, wrapped up in celebrity gossip, and things of that nature. Then think about the people you know that think about taking care of their family, health, helping others, financial intelligence, current events and continuing their education. You’ll notice that both parties are totally opposite.

Those who concentrate on the petty things in life are truly unhappy with themselves and others. They are still searching for their way as they try to fit in. Those who think about the important thing in most cases have found happiness and progression in their lives. This would appear to be common sense to most, but you would be surprised how many people don’t see the obvious.

It really is very simple and those with “TRUE POWER” know that “SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE SPEND MOST OF THEIR THOUGHTS ON THINGS OF HIGH VALUE, AND UNSUCCESSFUL PEOPLE SPEND MOST OF THEIR THOUGHTS ON THINGS OF LOW VALUE”.

I wish you a great week.

This week’s column is for those who already possess Power. If you think that is not you, you are most likely wrong! Most of us only think power is to have control over a large amount of people or resources, but power is to have control over anything. Power can be as small as having control over a pet, a relationship, a household, or a big as leading a staff, children, an event or anything else where people put trust and faith in your leadership.

When a person has control over others, they have the liberty to serve for the better of all or to serve their own needs only. This week ask yourself, who do you really serve in the relationships in which you possess the power? The best way to sum it up is for me to thank @sexytiki from Twitter for reminding me of a famous quote by Abraham Lincoln: “NEARLY ALL MEN CAN STAND ADVERSITY, BUT IF YOU WANT TO REALLY TEST A MAN’S CHARACTER…GIVE HIM POWER!”

CAN I BORROW 25 DOLLARS?… This week I’m gonna switch it up and tell you a story my man Barrie Blue shared with me:

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated to find his 5 year old son waiting for him at the door.
SON: Daddy, may I ask you a question?
DAD: Yea sure, what is it?
SON: Daddy, how much do you make an hour?
DAD (angry): That’s none of your business! Why do you ask such a thing?
SON: I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?
DAD: If you must know, I make $50 an hour.
SON: Daddy, can I please borrow $25?
DAD (furious): If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy some silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don’t work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.
The little boy quietly went to his room. The man sat down and started to get angrier – how dare he ask such questions only to get some money? After about an hour or so, the man calmed down and started to think. Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25. The man went to his son’s room.
DAD: Are you asleep, son?
SON: No Daddy, I’m awake.
DAD: I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier. It’s been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here is the $25 you asked for.
SON (smiling): Oh, thank you daddy!
Reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money and started to get angry again. The little boy counted his money, and then looked up at his father.
DAD: Why do you want more money if you have some?
SON: Because I didn’t have enough. Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his son and begged for forgiveness.

This story is a reminder to spend time with those who love and need you! Your job will find somebody to replace you quickly, but the ones that love you may never find a replacement and don’t want to! Those with “TRUE POWER” know that “NO ONE ON THEIR DEATH BED HAS EVER REGRETTED NOT SPENDING MORE TIME IN THE OFFICE…”
